We enforce parking policies by issuing citations (tickets) to vehicles found in violation of those policies. Please note the following:
- When parked on campus, your vehicle must occupy a single marked space.
- If you own a Duke parking permit:
- You are responsible for maintaining accurate vehicle information. Log in to My Parking Account to make changes.
- If you are parked on campus Monday–Friday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm (excluding University holidays), you must display your permit. See also reserved parking information below.
Read about paying and appealing a citation.
Reserved Facilities and Spaces
Specific spaces throughout campus are reserved 24 hours/day, seven days a week, including on University holidays. When you park in a reserved space or facility, you must display a valid permit at all times. Vehicles in reserved spaces without a valid permit are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner’s expense.
We often reserve facilities for events, and post signage 48 hours prior to the event. If you are parked in a lot to be used for an event, remove your vehicle by the posted day/time.
Visitor Parking
Any employee or student associated with Duke University or Health System is not considered a visitor. If you are an occasional visitor to campus, read about visitor parking. If you visit Duke more frequently (more than twice a week), consider purchasing a permit. Temporary permits are available and should be displayed whenever you are parked on campus.
If you need to provide parking for visitors to your department, read about department permits.
