Duke Parking & Transportation Services provides parking facilitiesbuses and shuttles, and various means of alternative transportation throughout the University and Health System.

GoTriangle is ending its fare-free ridership program as of July 1, 2024. However, any user who registers for GoTriangle’s new fare payment app, Umo, can continue to ride free for the month of July. The Durham City Council is expected to decide in June whether GoDurham will remain fare-free for 2024-25. Updates will be shared through an advisory or here.

Duke Parking and Transportation Services is in discussions with GoTriangle regarding the future of the GoPass program, which aligns with the University’s broader Climate Commitment and support of alternative transportation options for the community. Users will be updated on the GoPass program once details are available.

The Parking Services office at Science Drive Garage, 302 Science Drive, will be closed on Thursdays and Fridays during the summer months.  Customers who need personal assistance should visit our Customer Service Center at Room 04230, Duke Clinic from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

As a reminder, check out the rest of this website for answers to questions and other parking information.  Occasional parking permits can be purchased at My Parking Account.

Customers with annual permits (not NGT permits) may park in the Blue Zone and Duke University Road lots on West Campus Monday through Friday, 7am – 5pm.  In addition, parallel parking spaces on Towerview Rd. and Circuit Dr. may be utilized by customers with annual permits (not NGT permits).  Spaces labeled for reserved permits and pay-by-phone may not be used. 

East Campus lots (excluding gated lots) from the Monday after commencement (around May 15) to approximately August 15 are also valid for annual permit summer parking.

UPDATED May 6, 2024: The Downtown Shuttle will operate throughout the summer Monday through Friday except for Memorial Day (May 27), Juneteenth (June 19) and July 4 (July 4).

UPDATED Jan. 4, 2024:  The Downtown Shuttle will not operate on Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  Regular service will resume Tuesday, Jan. 16.

UPDATED Dec. 5, 2023:  The Downtown Shuttle will not operate from Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, 2024.  Regular service will resume Tuesday, January 2, 2024.


UPDATED November 14, 2023:  The Downtown Shuttle will not operate on Thursday, Nov. 23 or Friday, Nov. 24, observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Regular service will resume Monday, Nov. 27.


UPDATED September 7:  The Downtown Shuttle was involved in a minor accident this afternoon, so please expect delays.  The shuttle service will be resumed as soon as the police report is completed.


UPDATED August 27:  The Downtown Shuttle will not operate on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.  Regular service will resume Tuesday, September 5.

UPDATED Sept. 29:  The downtown shuttle plans to continue service as long as it is safe to do so. However, there could be weather delays or detours as needed based on road flooding. Passengers are encouraged to check Samsara(link is external) for real-time tracking and location of the shuttle.
