All Duke garages are equipped with automated pay stations. Before returning to their vehicle, visitors should pay for their parking using one of the pay stations. This video explains how to use the pay stations. Pay stations accept cash, credit, debit, and validations. Validations have replaced Duke parking discount coupons.

Departments and non-Duke entities may purchase validations to provide to visitors. Patients and families of Duke inpatient facilities may purchase validations at a discount. If you have any questions regarding the information below, please contact us at tranpark@duke.edu.

Validation Types

Validations are issued as scannable single-use or multi-use passes.

  • Passes are issued on business-card size stock and can be scanned at the pay station. The number of valid uses is printed on the pass.

Duke Departments and Non-Duke Entities: Ordering Validations

Duke departments and non-Duke entities may purchase validations to provide to visitors. Duke departments can order validations by completing the on-line request form and following the instructions provided; IR forms are not accepted. Since validations have cash value, they will not be mailed.

Non-Duke entities should email tranpark@duke.edu or call 919-684-7275 to request validations.  Payment with a credit card is preferred; we do not accept cash for payments.. 

Patients and Families: Purchasing Discounted Validations

NOTE:  Cash is not accepted at our customer service centers as a payment method.  Credit/debit cards, money orders and checks are acceptable and cash can continue to be used at automated pay stations.

Patients and their families are able to purchase discounted five-use parking passes at the Duke Clinic Customer Service Center beside the Medical Center Bookstore, the Duke Hospital Gift Shop ("The Pink Smock"), the Duke Parking and Transportation Services office at Science Drive Garage and from the attendant located in Parking Garage 2 by the exit off of Elba Street.  Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Discounted single-use tickets are $7 each and 5-use passes are $35.

Important! Duke faculty, staff and students, affiliates and contractors are not eligible to purchase or use discounted validations.
