Duke Buses

Buses & Vans

There are many transportation options available at Duke, including Duke Transit (buses) and vans, city and regional buses, and private taxi service. We are also piloting an Uber program.

Duke Transit and Vans

Duke Transit operates numerous daytime, evening and weekend bus routes throughout the campus and Health System. Students, staff, faculty and visitors can ride campus buses at no charge. Riders must abide by these guidelines

View the 2017-18 system map here.  To view individual route maps and schedules, click the links below. We recommend you use the schedules as a planning tool to estimate arrivals and departures, and use Transloc Rider to track the buses in real-time.

Campus Routes

Campus routes connect residential, academic and perimeter lots on East, Central, and West campuses, along with several off-campus sites. Campus service is in effect during the academic year only, with limited holiday/summer service schedules.

Health System Routes

The following routes connect surface lots and garages to Duke Medical Pavilion, Duke Hospital, Duke Clinic and administrative buildings. These routes operate year-round, on weekdays only.

RDU Shuttles

During fall, Thanksgiving and spring breaks, we provide free rides to RDU Airport. The shuttles do not operate at the beginning or end of a semester.

Duke Vans

Duke Vans operate within a strict service boundary, when and where Duke Transit buses are not in service -- between 5:00pm – 6:45am. They are available to students, employees, visitors and affiliates. Passengers may be asked for ID. You can request a ride through the Transportation function of the DukeMobile app.

Accessible Transportation

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, our buses and vans are ADA accessible. All Duke Transit vehicles are equipped to accommodate wheelchairs; most full-size buses also kneel, if needed.

Students with permanent or temporary physical disabilities may apply for Duke Vans’ daytime paratransit services. Due to limited resources, rides may not always be available.

City & Regional Routes

Use your Duke GoPass to ride the folowing municipal and regional buses. For routes to popular destinations around Duke, download our guide.
