Final Notice – Recovered East/West Bikes - March 8, 2021
Update April 8, 2020:
Bicycles collected for safekeeping in the spring and summer of 2020 must be retrieved from Parking and Transportation Services before May 5, 2021. Bikes not claimed by that date will be considered abandoned and donated to a local charity.
Many, but not all, bicycles left behind on East and West Campuses between Spring and Summer breaks of 2020 were stored for safekeeping by Parking and Transportation Services. Bikes left in Duke storage after April 23, 2021 will be considered abandoned and be subject to our abandoned bike policy. To initiate the retrieval process, we must confirm whether we collected the bike in question. First:
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with subject BICYCLE RETRIEVAL and provide in the body of the email:
- Bicycle identification information: make, model, color, type (mountain, road, hybrid, etc…), and serial number, if known.
- Bicycle permit number, if registered.
- Approximate location the bicycle was last parked.
- If someone other than the owner is picking up the bicycle, send the name, phone number and email of the individual authorized to retrieve the bicycle.
PTS will confirm your request via email and provide further details. Please note that when you or your representative arrive to retrieve the bicycle, valid state identification must be presented. Bicycles may be picked up by appointment Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. We require at least 5 business days from receipt of your email to verify that we have the bike and retrieve it from storage. Again, bikes left in Duke storage after April 23rd will be considered abandoned and subject to our abandoned bike policy.
