Summer Parking Areas
When the regular academic year ends, students, faculty and staff have several additional options for parking on campus. Parking and Transportation Services opens select lots where Duke community members with a valid parking permit are allowed to park at any time. Summertime parking opportunities are generally in effect from the Monday after University Commencement (around May 15) to approximately Aug. 15, unless noted otherwise.
Valid Duke permits can be used to park in the following lots and zones during the summer:
Blue and SGS zone permits are also valid on Central Campus. All other lots and garages will have normally enforced year-round permit requirements.
Students who are gone for summer break are able to leave Duke-registered vehicles in the Blue Zone lot shown below or Central Campus Apartments parking lots. Because there are special events held near the Blue Zone over summer, vehicles left in any other Blue Zone area may be towed at the owner's expense.
Rising sophomores may leave their cars in the Smith Gated South lot (SGS permit) for the summer months until they return for the fall semester.
