Summer Parking Areas

When the regular academic year ends, students, faculty and staff have several additional options for parking on campus. Parking and Transportation Services opens select lots where Duke community members with a valid parking permit are allowed to park at any time. Summertime parking opportunities are generally in effect from the Monday after University Commencement (around May 15) to approximately Aug. 15, unless noted otherwise.

Valid, annual Duke permits (excluding NGT - night permits) can be used to park in the following lots and zones during the summer:

Blue and SGS zone permits are also valid on Central Campus. All other lots and garages will have normally enforced year-round permit requirements.

Students who are gone for summer break are able to leave Duke-registered vehicles in the Blue Zone lot shown below or Central Campus Apartments parking lots. Motorists should not park in lot BZ #2, marked on the image below.  That lot is reserved for special events throughout the summer.  PLEASE NOTE:  Due to multiple construction projects occuring in and around the Blue Zone and on Towerview Road, the Blue Zone gates will remain open throughout the summer.

Rising sophomores may leave their cars in the Smith Gated South lot (SGS permit) for the summer months until they return for the fall semester.
