Law Student Permits

Law School students are guaranteed parking permits based upon their assignment to a particular group.  A finite number of permits in Whitford, Chemistry, Green and Blue Zones have been allocated to Law School students.  You will be able to purchase a permit in one of these lots, but not necessarily in the lot you prefer.  Permits will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis using the schedule listed below.  If a lot is not shown in the list of permits when you go on-line, it is no longer available.

You must have your NetID and password in order to gain access to the site.  NetIDs are mailed to students upon matriculation.  Be sure to activate your NetID on-line as soon as you receive it.  You will also be asked to provide vehicle information and a mailing address in the continental United States.

Vehicle Registration
Students who do not have a vehicle when they purchase a permit may enter their Duke Unique ID number in the license information section of the permit order form. When a vehicle and permanent license plate are obtained, students must update vehicle records within 10 business days.  Update vehicle information at Duke FlexPort.

Missed Group Sales Schedule
If you miss your group's sales schedule, your parking selections will be downgraded to the next group.  For example, after the 3L sales end, 3L students would see the options available to 2L's.  After August 1, general availability permits can be purchased throughout the year online.

Waitlists
The parking arrangement with the Law School prohibits enrolling on parking lot waitlists.  Should preferred parking spaces be available during the academic year, Parking Services will work with the Law School to allocate them to interested Law students.

Permit Payment
Parking fees are billed to student Bursar accounts.  No other method of payment is accepted.

Permit Mailing Information
Parking permits for 2016-2017 purchased in July will be mailed to addresses within the continental United States around the third week of July.  Permits purchased after mid-July 2016 will be mailed within seven business days.  If you do not have a local address, you may send your permit to Duke Parking Services, Box 90644, Durham, NC  27708.  When you arrive on campus, please pick up your permit at our office at 2010 Campus Drive.  The office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
