With nearly 13,000 students at Duke, the university is continually making strides to provide the best and easiest ways to park on campus. While not every student is guaranteed to be able to park on campus, parking is provided to students based on where they live.
- First-year students live on East Campus and are eligible for parking in the Smith Gated South lot at Smith Warehouse.
- Upperclassmen undergraduate residents either live on Central Campus or West Campus.
- Off campus undergraduates park with West Campus residents in the Blue Zone.
- Most Graduate and Professional students commute from off campus to Duke. Parking is provided to graduate and professional students in mid- to low-priced commuter lots throughout campus.
Parking permit fees are charged to each student's Bursar account.
In addition to spaces on campus, Duke also offers incentives for commuting alternatives.
Students with Blue Zone Permits
Students who park in Blue Zone lots on the West Campus should note the Blue Zone is reserved for event parking on all home football game days. Students with Blue Zone permits are asked to move vehicles to Parking Garage #1 or the Smith Warehouse on Maxwell Ave., hours prior to the beginning of all home football games. Parking rules may vary for Fall Break and Thanksgiving holidays. Details will be sent via email.
