Vehicle Registration
Students who do not have a vehicle when they purchase a permit may enter their Duke Unique ID number in the license information section of the permit order form. When a vehicle and permanent license plate are obtained, students must update vehicle records within 10 business days.
How to Obtain Your Parking Permit
Parking permits purchased online will be mailed to addresses within the continental United States within seven to ten business days.
When to Display Parking Permit
Permits should be displayed on August 16. Parking zone enforcement will begin on September 1.
Evening and Weekend Access to Parking Lots
Your DukeCard provides access to many parking lots after 5:00 p.m. weekdays and on weekends all year long, excluding times when lots are reserved for events. When attending a special event on campus, your permit allows free parking in lots designated for the general public.
Carpools & Rideshares
Please consider carpools, rideshares, GoPass and other cost-saving and environmentally friendly alternatives to single occupancy vehicles. Our Alternative Transportation page offers more information.
Accessible Parking
Students with permanent physical disabilities must request consideration for handicapped parking each year by filling out an application form and forwarding copies to the Disability Management System.
