Service Vehicle Permits
If you wish to park service vehicles on the Duke campus in the coming academic year, your permit choices will be determined upon the location and functions performed by you, your company or department. When the majority of parking is anticipated to be in a single zoned lot or area, you will be issued an annual permit for that zone at the full rate based upon space availability. Please refer to this page for fees of individual zones and lots.
The following permits are available for service providers:
DUS – Duke Vehicle (Service) – permits are issued to Duke-owned/leased vehicles. Duke Vehicle number must be provided and recorded for each DUS permit issued. DUS permits may not be issued to any employee, student, contractor, or vendor. DUS permits may not be issued to Duke departments unless associated with a specific Duke-owned or leased vehicle. DUS permits are valid in all zoned spaces plus Service spaces with a 2016-2017 cost of $600. Fund code/IRI is the sole payment method for DUS permits.
EXS – External Service – permits are issued to outside service providers. EXS permits may not be issued to any employee or student. EXS permits will only be issued upon written recommendation of designated contacts within FMD, MC E&O, or Central Administration (Associate Vice President, Directors). EXS permits are valid in all zoned spaces plus Service spaces with a 2016-2017 cost of $600. Cash, check, credit card (excluding Duke Procurement card), or fund code/IRI are the approved payment methods for EXS permits.
UA - Universal Access – permits allow parking in any non-premium space and in Parking Garage IV, and are issued at the full rate based upon space availability. Parking is not allowed in service spaces, loading zones, in metered and paid spaces, and the Chapel Quadrangle. The 2016-2017 Universal Access permit rate is $1,692.00. We also offer monthly and daily permits for occasions when an annual permit is not required. Fees vary based upon the parking location.
Individual Zone Permits - will be issued based on permit usage and functions performed. Service providers with a majority of usage in a single zoned lot will be issued an annual permit for that zone at the full rate.
In order to purchase a permit, complete the Departmental/Special Permit application form found under the Forms and Applications section of our website. The form may be mailed to Duke Parking and Transportation Services, Box 90644, Durham, North Carolina 27708-0644 or delivered to our offices at Room 04230 Duke Clinics or 302 Science Drive, on the ground level of Science Drive Garage. We accept cash, checks and credit cards and fund codes.
Short Term Permits
For situations where annual permits are not appropriate, there are three short term permit options.
EVP – Short term/Daily Lot Specific - hangtag permits which convey access to a specific parking zone, based on desired location and availability. EVP permits are issued in durations ranging from one day up to three months. All payment methods are accepted except payroll deduction.
