Parking advisory: adjustments for Christmas

December 23, 2010

With students, faculty and staff away from campus during holiday break, Parking and Transportation Services will adjust its transit schedule and parking lot availability during Christmas.

Adjustments have been made to bus schedules during winter break, which runs from Dec. 19 to Jan. 12. During that time, most bus routes will keep their usual service, except the C-1 bus route won’t be available and the C-2 route will stop service at 9 p.m. There will also be no weekend campus service until all routes return to the regular schedule Jan. 13.

During the weekend of Christmas, Duke will not run any bus routes from Dec. 24 to 27. The LaSalle Loop will have regular service from Dec. 28 to 30, but will not run between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3. During those dates, LaSalle Loop service will stop at 9 p.m. Duke Vans will also be available on a limited basis between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3.

Parking at Duke during Christmas will also be adjusted, allowing for free parking in all patient and visitor areas of PG1, PG2, PG3 and the Eye Center Lot from Dec. 24 to 27.

From Dec. 28 to 30, PG1 and PG2 will resume normal permitted parking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. During that time, the Eye Center Lot will open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. PG3 will continue to be free.

During Duke’s winter break, PG4 will first have normal permitted parking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Dec. 20 and 23 before opening for free parking between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3, except for times when special events occur. Fees will be charged during special events.

The Parking and Transportation Services office on Coal Pile Drive will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3 for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Normal hours will resume Jan. 4.
