Uber Rides Program
Through a pilot program with Uber, Duke University will cover the transportation costs of certain Uber rides that Duke students and employees take to and from the following designated locations:
- Duke Lemur Center: 3705 Erwin Rd
- Duke Campus Farm: 4934 Friends School Rd
- Emily K Center: 904 W Chapel Hill St
- Durham Crisis Response Center: 206 N Dillard St
- El Centro Hispano: 2000 Chapel Hill Rd, #26a
- Durham Nursing & Rehab Center: 411 South LaSalle St
- Durham Animal Protection Society: 2117 East Club Blvd
As a condition of participating in this pilot program, users must read and agree to the terms of the program and the waiver and release, which are set forth here.
Rides to locations #3-7 above are provided in conjunction with the Duke Partnership for Service, an organization dedicated to connecting students with local community service projects. For more information on how to sign up for service activities, visit dukepartnershipforservice.com.
How it Works
Through the 2016-17 academic year, Duke and Uber are offering access to the designated locations (above) at no cost to students and employees. Rides must originate or terminate at East, Central, or West Campus.
The program operates 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday service until 8:30pm. Here's how it works.
Terms of Uber Rides Pilot Program
If a student or employee signs the waiver and release, Duke will give the user a unique promo code, which will provide access to the Uber-provided Duke University View (the "DU View"). The DU View will be accessible within the Uber App during certain hours and within certain geographical boundaries established by Duke.
The DU View will be accessible only to Duke users who choose to have a personal Uber account associated with their @duke.edu email address, and have downloaded the Uber App.
Duke will directly pay Uber fees for rides to any of the designated locations (listed above) as long as the ride originates or terminates on East, Central or West Campus (see map above). Rides must be requested and completed through the Uber App, using the DU View, directly between Duke's campus and the designated locations, and within hours established by Duke.
Please use the promo code from your signed waiver in the Uber app. Rides must be completed under the 'Duke' option in the Uber app. To access this option, please adjust your Uber account e-mail address to your @duke.edu account and remember to slide the marker to the "Duke" view to take advantage of complementary rides.
