Duke Vans
Duke's fleet of vans provides free transportation to employees and students in specified service areas where Duke Transit buses are not available. The vans offer an alternative to walking alone or in isolated areas of campus.
SafeRides provides on-demand van transportation from dusk to dawn (generally 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) for students, faculty, and employees of Duke University with valid Duke identification.
Rides are provided on demand by calling (919) 684-SAFE (-7233) to and from any Duke campus facility that is open for use at the time of the ride request. Depending on conditions of weather, time of night, special events, volume of calls, and other situations beyond our control, the response times may vary. SafeRides can also be contacted by using any Blue Phone on campus.
Pick Up transportation is provided to riders from on-campus locations only.
Drop Off transportation is provided at the following locations only: Any on-campus location or residence and private residence within the defined boundary area. Drop offs at commercial locations are not permitted.
Duke’s Medical Center also has a van service for employees and students. The service transports employees and students at no charge on Duke's Medical Center Campus and to and from select Duke Medical Center properties 24 hours a day. To request service, call (919) 684-2020.
